I live for a good story. Here’s a piece of mine.

As one of six kids, I learned early on what it means to live in the middle. I observed. I adapted. I caught and released pond fish with butterfly nets. I wrote about it. At an elementary school in Kansas, I decided (sight unseen) that I belonged in New York City and I was going to be a writer. All of those things were true.

My career began in buying and merchandising and has spanned everything from inventory operations to copywriting and project management. Today, I help craft narratives to build brands. My greatest professional pleasure has been working with brands I genuinely care for (and partake in)—health & wellness, non-alcoholic drinks, up & coming CPG, and pet products, to name a few.

As far as learning goes, I have a B.A. in English and Creative Writing from Stanford University. For four years, I wrote a lot, read a lot, and obsessed over craft and storylines.

When I’m offline, I get inspired—by the sea, under the sea, away from my screen, in a book, or walking to nowhere in particular. It all depends on the day.

I tend to think there are brands everywhere.

One walk around the block, five micro moments of inspiration...

  1. The doorman of 25 years.

Joe. He suffers no prisoners and no nonsense.

  2. The new doorman.

Joe’s counterpart. He gives the dog a treat every time she passes. She never eats it.

  3. Said dog.

How can a 5 pound creature harbor so much humanity?

  4. Italian coffee shop.

An old-school spot that serves alarmingly strong espresso. Always has at least one exposed water leak.

  5. Jasil.

The coffee barista who is only kind of Italian. It’s pronounced like Basil, with a J.
